                                                 My New Life with an Artist

HI I’m Buddy—nickname Snaussy Dog, thanks to my slightly sausage-like shape these days I’m living my best life with artist, Lisa Jill Allison, and her buddy Brad. I want to tell you a little about the value of art culture and community from a dog’s-eye view. Honestly, none of this was on my radar as a pup. My early world was all about survival: absentee guardians, lots of kennel time, and a real lack of community. By dog trainer standards, I was considered difficult if not hopeless, I felt alone, insecure, and misunderstood.

Fast-forward to the happiest day of my life—adoption day! What a world I found myself in. I now had a forever home, and much to my delight, I was surrounded by art of all sorts. Paintings of nature filled the space bringing my favorite place (the outdoors!) inside with lush, colorful, palms, dancing, seascapes, and vibrant florals. But what truly touched my little doggie heart were the paintings of Rosy, the beloved pet, who had lived here before me. You could see the love in every brushstroke. It was clear Rosy had been deeply loved and content— and I knew this would be my future too.

And then there’s the music—always playing! I’ve developed a real ear for 90s pool party mixes. Movie nights? I’m a fan. August Rush really spoke to me. And the food! Ethnic dishes are served daily, and I’m never forgotten when it comes to the last bite. Rich conversations flow through the house, and I’ve become part of a true community. Neighborhood playdates are a regular thing—an amazing, mixed pack of all sizes, shapes, ages, and backgrounds. We learn and grow from each other. It’s pure magic.

I can proudly say I’m now a well-adjusted pup. Being surrounded by art—and all its forms— has helped heal my past and opened the door to a fuller, happier, more connected life. So, thank you, Lisa & Brad for showing me this joyful new world. And here’s my advice to you humans: rub shoulders with the arts— in all their forms—and watch your coat shine. Downtown Fort Pierce is blooming with art and culture. Art galleries, shops featuring hand-crafted and local items, ethnically diverse restaurants and music galore, all eagerly awaiting your visit.
